This Industrial Test Systems article provides you information about tests that needed to be done in a shop inspection, site inspection and in-service inspection.
The test is some part of an inspection process, but the required tests for each equipment type is not possible in single article. This article only guides you to access to your required information through the other article in this website or by introduction codes and standards
.The required tests in the shop inspection are different from one equipment type to another. For example, the required tests for pressure vessel construction are a little bit different from that of a steam boiler. If you are not familiar with the shop inspection definition and requirements please see the Shop Inspection article for more information. So to list the required tests for each equipment type, you need to know the equipment construction code, and then find the required tests.
But sometimes the code requirement for testing is distributed in different chapters, and some tests might be missed. So to avoid this unwanted mistake, the inspection and test plan is widely used in the industrial field.
This document is in tabulated format and determines all tests and inspections and identifies the responsibility of each party.
To identify required tests for each equipment type, you may review the inspection and test plan article. We have placed draft ITP sheets. You may download these sheets and review the required tests for each type of equipment.
Industrial Test Systems - Required Tests for Pre-Shipment Inspection:
No test is done in the Pre-Shipment Inspection. Normally, the scope of work for Pre-Shipment Inspection is visual quality, document review, visual quantity, packing, marking and loading inspection.
Please note above statement is not true for non-industrial commodities such as agriculture or chemicals. These commodities might be tested in accredited Labs. These commodities are out of scope of this website.
For more information, please review the Pre-Shipment Inspection article.
Required Tests for Site Inspections:
Similar to the shop inspection required test, in site inspection is different from one equipment type to another. For example, the required test for storage tank construction is different from that for process piping.
For more information on site inspection, please review the Industrial Inspection System article.
To identify the required tests for each site inspection field, you may review the following links for inspection and test plans, as well as the introduction of construction codes.
